The Art of Farming Art and Photography Contest

To provide another avenue for students in Arkansas to earn college scholarships and to support the 4-H Art and Photography project, the Foundation has launched the Art of Farming Art and Photography Contest. The designation, “Art of Farming,” was suggested by Celebration of Excellence honoree, P. Allen Smith. The Foundation’s goal is to increase agricultural literacy among Arkansas’ youth and show how vital it is to our economy and survival.

The contest is open to 4-H members as well as any Arkansas resident ages five to 19. To enter the contest, students are encouraged to depict a scene involving farming such as livestock, fields, tractors, and farms. Youth ages five to eight are eligible to submit their art for a non-competitive art review. The competitive contest is for youth between the ages of nine and 19 with prizes consisting of cash and college scholarships.

To instill philanthropy in the hearts of the participants the Foundation asked that the winners of Best in Show agree to have their artwork sold at auction. The proceeds from the auction are split evenly between the artist and the Arkansas 4-H Foundation’s “Art of Farming” Scholarship Program to help other students receive prizes in the years to come. All winners, including the five to eight year olds, have the opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center for one year.
